Clematis is a flower within the buttercup family. They are mostly woody climbing vines. and have been popular among gardeners since 1862. Leaves are opposite and divided into leaflets and leafstalks that twist and curl around supporting structures to anchor the plant as it climbs.
They are mainly of Chinese and Japanese origin.
